Peli-Boyz making strides in KSAFA Super League

The UWI Pelican Football Club jumped two slots into third position after defeating Rockfort FC 3-2 on Saturday in the KSAFA Major League Competition.

Despite the strong winds, both teams managed to contain each other until well into the first half when Ramone Reid managed to cut through the defense of the visitors and found the back of the net just before the stroke of halftime.

The second half got underway with both teams getting several shots at goal, UWI soon however got a shot on target that found the back of the net, a goal that was thought to be an own goal but actually came off the boots of Kemar Douglas to put the host in a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Trouble would soon however rock the UWI boat and Rockfort FC soon leveled the score after having been awarded two penalties.

It was former national Under 21 national representative Andrae Bernal who came to the rescue of the Pelicans when his cracker sailed past the goalkeeper to pierce the net.

It was this victory that propelled the Peli-Boyz into third place having been occupying fifth position for a few weeks. The Mona Pelicans will next face August Town FC on Saturday in a much anticipated showdown at the UWI Bowl staring at 3:30pm.
