INFLUENCE OF HUMAN ACTIONS ON GEOHAZARDS
Although most of these processes are purely natural, more than often their occurrence and impact is influenced by human actions, for example, landslides, riverine flooding, and accelerated soil erosion in developed areas.

MULTIPLE HAZARDS
The geohazards on the island of Jamaica are multiple hazards that is, one hazardous condition may induce a series of other hazards, for example, a tropical storm may cause flooding, landslides, accelerated soil erosion and sitting of reservoirs.

RAPID/SLOW ONSET HAZARDS
Earthquakes, landslides and floods are examples of rapid onset hazards, whereas soil creep and accelerated soil erosion are slow onset phenomena
