Sub-module 2.4 B Lab.# 10
Subject: Study of landslides- aerial- photointerpretation

Study the stereopair JAM 91-024- photos 172 and 173 using a mirror stereoscope.
See notes on photo-interpretation.
Before proceeding with the practical work, answer the following questions.
Is scale uniform throughout the photograph?
Check mountainous areas vs. plains
Determine the principal points of photos.
What is the forward overlap between successive photos? Express as %.
What is the North direction on the photos?
Do shadows suggest the time of the day when photos were taken?
Name the major features (cultural and geographic) on the overlay sheet.

Landslide features are included in the material for this lab.

To Do:

(a) Prepare a photo-geologic/geomorphic map of the area covered in the stereopair on the overlay sheet provided. Label this map for lithology, structure, and geomorphic features. Determine the scale of the photographs.

(b) List and explain the criteria used in the recognition and interpretation of features as in (a).

(c) Describe the geohazards in the area.

Topographic map at a scale of 1:50,000 has been provided.
