where f=2 omega sin (phi) in which (omega=angular rotation) (phi= latitude)
v=velocity in y-direction; dP/dx = pressure slope in x-direction, or slope of water surface
thus, a slope in one direction causes a current at right angles to the slope, to the right in N.Hemisphere
a.k.a the Coriolis Effect, because of the rotation of the Earth
