Example from the Caribbean:

Are these boundaries seismically active? What is the direction of relative motion on the two plates? a href=???>Fig. 5 shows the central section of the boundary between the Caribbean and the North American plates.
The plate boundary zone is some 200 km wide; note that the southern most fault in this zone, the Enriquillo-Plantain Garden-Swan Fault zones, makes a restraining bend on the island of Jamaica.
The Plantain Garden and North Coast Fault Systems are linked via the Wagwater fault zone- note seismicity on Jamaica.
Note fault zones and fault segments. Examine the tectonic map of Hispaniola. Is there a step on the major boundary fault?
What is the significance of these faults in relation to the Quaternary uplift on Jamaica and Hispaniola?
Examine the earthquake epicentre distribution map of Jamaica, simplified structural map of Jamaica, Ahmad 1996, and compare it (THEM????) with the map showing the geographical distribution of intensities greater than MMI VI, (Shepherd and Aspinall, 1980). The distribution of earthquakes in relation to the faults is obvious but we do not know which particular faults are active.
