Course Description

Provides an introduction to auditing within the wider context of assurance services. The course covers the basic principles and theory underpinning modern audit and the application of the principles to the main areas of a statutory audit. Emphasis on ethics (integrity and objectivity, confidentiality, independence), auditing standards and procedures, internal control, audit evidence, testing. Classroom instruction is mixed with practical examples through the examination of decided cases.
