From a humble, impoverished and violence prone beginning to the financial capital of the world, Wall Street, Queenie Munroe, a second year Banking and Finance student, was selected as the first and only representative from the University of the West Indies to participate in the SEO Career Program. Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) is a premier internship program which specializes in recruiting Americans of minority descent to work in the most coveted, challenging and financially rewarding environment known as Wall Street. Partnering with Caribiz, the SEO organization was convinced of the untapped talent which existed in the Caribbean and journeyed to Mona, Jamaica to interview prospective interns for what would be an invaluable experience in the U.S investment banking sector. In summer 2006, the SEO Career Program offered 403 internships to students from 119 colleges/ universities. The list of colleges included from the most prestigious schools in the world to a Caribbean university. The schools included Harvard; Princeton; Stanford; Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania; Columbia; New York University; Yale; MIT and of course the University of the West Indies.
