The Environmental
Management Unit (EMU) was established in September 1998. It
is part of the Department
of Geography and Geology at the University
of the West Indies, Mona Campus. The Unit was formed in
response to the need for increased capacity building in the
area of environmental management in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
It promotes effective management of environmental resources
through research, graduate training and consultancy.
The Head of the
EMU is Professor
Elizabeth Thomas-Hope, the James Seivright Moss-Solomon
(Senior) Professor of Environmental Management.
