
The Jamaican Geographical Society was founded in 1966 and its principal aim is the advancement of the discipline of geography in Jamaica. Its activities include field trips and hikes, guest lectures, workshops and conferences, and occasional exhibitions and social events. The Society is managed by an elected Council, and its current officers are listed below .

JGS Membership
The membership fees for 2008-2009 is as follows:
- Full Membership for Students - $300
- Full Membership for Professionals - $1200
- Overseas Residents – US$20
- Corporate Membership (small companies and schools, with benefits for up to 10 staff members) - $10,000
