Meet the Director
Welcome to the Institute of Caribbean Studies and the Reggae Studies Unit (“ICS/RSU”) at the University of the West Indies at Mona in Jamaica! This is a great time to pursue a course of study or engage with our multiple offerings in the ICS/RSU as we engage with cutting-edge cultural phenomena and tackle movements across the cultural and creative industries in the local, regional and international arenas. The contemporary explosion in, attention to, and involvement with cultural and creative industries in this era positions the work being done in the ICS/RSU as critically important in the way forward for many countries and provides our students with the analytical and critical tools to make their marks in these arenas.
Do register for our exciting range of courses that cut across cultural studies and the cultural and creative industries to interrogate the multiple ways of being. These include courses on Music, Sports, Jamaican dancehall culture, Caribbean Fashion, Rastafari and the Creative Industries, among others. You are invited to participate in the rich and diverse seminar, talks, conferences and other activities that we offer in the ICS/RSU, which all serve to enrich academic and professional learning experience, career training and research output.
Our Faculty, Staff and Graduate Assistants are always ready and willing to assist you with any queries, concerns and challenges that you may have. Do feel free to contact us! We look forward to sharing with you!
