Concept of
a Jamaica Diaspora Institute resulted from discussions and
deliberations from previous Jamaica Diaspora Conferences.

A Business
Plan was developed and presented to the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Foreign Trade with the aim of establishing a
Jamaica Diaspora Institute
-
Institute
would be integrally linked with the Jamaica Diaspora
Foundation which is being established.

Work on the
plan was coordinated by Professor Neville Ying with assistance
from Mr Harry Abrikian of MSB and Mr Francis Felix and Miss
Natasha Mortley of the Business Development Office, UWI.

Professor
Ying was also a member of the planning team for the 2nd
Diaspora Conference held June 16- 17, 2006.
