The University
of the West Indies Venture Competition (UWIVC)
The UWI Venture Competition is
a business plan competition, where teams of MBA, EMBA, MSc-MIS
and CBMIS students, or graduate business students submit their
business plans or new venture projects submitted in partial
fulfillment of their programmes to compete for:
-
The
opportunity to represent the UWI at the Opportunity Funding
Corporation Venture Challenge (OFCVC) in Atlanta. Hosted by
Clark Atlanta University.
-
Possible monetary prizes for the team; prizes donated by the
private sector
-
A
place in the Vincent HoSang Entrepreneurship programme; to
pursue the opportunity to convert their business plans to
actual businesses
The OFCVC is a business plan
competition for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Each year participating schools conduct an internal competition
on Business Plan Development and Presentation; for the
University of the West Indies this is the UWI Venture
Competition. The winner of each school’s internal competition
then goes to Atlanta to compete at the OFCVC.
The UWIVC and OFCVC provide
entrepreneurial opportunities and experiences to students, and
helps them to look at the big picture and apply their conceptual
& theoretical knowledge.
