USING SECOND LIFE IN HIGHER EDUCATION

The Instructional Development Unit (IDU) is pleased to announce and invite members of the UWI academic staff to its first Lunch & Learn Seminar for 2010.

Have you ever heard of Second Life? It is an online 3D virtual world imagined and designed by its users – namely you, should you choose to be a “resident”.  You have the opportunity to “create and custom your own digital 3D persona, also known as your avatar” (http://secondlife.com/whatis#Welcome).

You may be wondering what Second Life has to do with your teaching? Well this one hour session will explore the use of Second Life in the teaching and learning process in Higher Education. Come and engage in this dynamic discussion and learn more about this phenomenal software and how you can engage students more using this new tool.
