Patricia Mohammed

She Patricia Mohammed is Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Gender and Development Studies, University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. From 1994-2002 she was Head of the Mona Unit, Centre for Gender and Development Studies, in Jamaica.

She has been involved in both feminist activism and scholarship for over two decades. Her academic publications include Gender Negotiations among Indians in Trinidad, 1917 – 1947, Palgrave.ISS, UK, 2001, Gendered Realities (ed) University of the West Indies Press, Kingston, 2002, Rethinking Caribbean Difference, Guest Editor, Special Issue Feminist Review, Routledge Journals Summer 1998, Caribbean Women at the Crossroads, co author with Althea Perkins, University of the West Indies Press, Kingston 1998, Gender in Caribbean Development, (co-edited with Catherine Shepherd, 1988, along with numerous essays in journals and books, magazines and newspapers.

In July 2002 she completed a two-year Mona Campus Research fellowship with a manuscript entitled Imaging the Caribbean, which is to be published in book format as well as documentary film.
