After Students Register

Retain Students

  1. Deliver on our promise of a world class education at The UWI.
  2. Encourage students to participate in Seminars and Workshops arranged by the Office of Graduate Studies and Research from time to time
  3. Encourage students to become familiar with the Policies, Regulations and Procedures governing Graduate Diplomas and Degrees

Diploma and Taught Masters' Students

  1. Hold academic and administrative staff accountable for quality and delivery of courses.
  2. Set up Board of Examiners' Meeting to review and manage students' performance
  3. Submit examination results within the stipulated timelines (ie. within 2 weeks of the date of the examination) to the Exams Section

Research Students

  1. Familiarize yourself with the Handbook: Graduate Studies Guide for Students and Supervisors
  2. Set up Advisory/Supervisory Committees by end of 1st Semester
  3. Chief Supervisor to meet with student to discuss Course Requirements, Research Seminars and Work Plan;
  4. Set timelines for completion of MPhil or PhD studies
  5. Monitor progress through submission of Supervisor's Progress Report twice annually (i.e. end of January and end of June) to the Office of Graduate Studies & Research
  6. Discuss prospects for Upgrade to PhD with the MPhil candidates and map out a plan within the regulatory timelines for this process
