FD10A: ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES
Home | Assessment | Assignments | Booklists | Examinations | Materials | Seminar Schedule | Instructors
Seminars

Your are required to attend one (1) seminar each week. Please take your FD10A Study Guide and other prescribed texts to each class. Your tutor is also available for consultation during published hours. You are expected to attend consultations regularly to deal with matters such as the following:

i) to seek clarification which cannot be given in the limited class time;
ii) to discuss assignments/your progress in general or specific terms; and most importantly,
iii) to receive individual help with areas of weakness identified by you or your tutor; you may therefore be required to attend one or more hours of instruction in the Writing Centre.

N.B: You must be prepared to undertake extensive study-reading of the prescribed texts as well as diligent out-of-class practice in order to benefit from the seminars and ultimately do well in the course.

Resits

Each student is allowed one sitting per academic year. If you do not successfully complete the course in the allotted semester, you are normally required to wait until the following academic year to resit the course in the semester prescribed for your faculty.

Course-work marks are NOT Transferable

Course-work marks (for tests and portfolios) are not transferable from one sitting to another. Under normal circumstances, students who fail the course will be required to attend classes and do a new set of tests in the following year/sitting.

Examination Results

It is the responsibility of each student to check the appropriate
NOTICE BOARD at the registry for Examination Results.

Language Background

Students who have been educated in a language other than English should advise their tutors of this in their first seminar/tutorial.

PLEASE ensure that you become familiar with all the course requirements. If you need information that your tutor cannot provide, please consult the Department Office, Room 16, Faculty of Humanities & Education Administration Building or the FD10A Coordinator.
