You are to develop your own special vocabulary of essential phonetics and phonology terminology listed below. The essence of each concept should not be expressed by more than three sentences. Helpful resources to enable you accomplish this goal include:

  1. Glossary and related chapters in some of the introduction to phonetics and phonology texts such as those prescribed and recommended for this course,
  2. Related lecture notes (and accompanying required readings),
  3. ‘on-line’ resources
  4. Library resources
    • This exercise aims to provide a useful study technique in preparation for the final exam and levels 2 & 3 courses in linguistics and communication.
    • The glossary exercise is due on week 10 and is worth 10% of the overall grade.
