Master of Arts (M.A.) in English Language
Target
Persons interested in English Language usage in Public Media, Editors, English Language Trainers and Teachers at the Post-secondary level (especially for courses such as CAPE Communication Studies, UWI Foundation English courses and equivalent courses at Teachers' Colleges, and other universities and tertiary institutions).
Objectives
The programme is designed to give students a sound technical knowledge of the structure and usage of English. You will also gain a grasp of the social issues surrounding its use both within the Caribbean and around the world, and the competence to design and teach English language courses at the post-secondary level.
Qualifications for Entry
A University degree (a minimum of Lower Second Class Honours) or any qualification adjudged by the university to be equivalent.
Duration
24 months, inclusive of summer semesters. The programme will be offered only on a part-time basis through face-to-face delivery, online delivery and distance/reading.

The MA in the English Language programme is a 37 credit Masters’ programme which has 2 specialization options: Professional (P) and Education (E). The courses are listed below. Courses marked (P) or (E) are designated for the specific specializations only.
