Course Development: Integrating technology with pedagogy
The Instruction Support Systems (ISS) unit, a sub-department in Mona Information Technology Services (MITS) facilitates the transition of courses from the traditional face-to-face environment to OurVLE. Instructors have the option to choose from three types of courses (see figure 1); Internet Supported (for courses that are not fully online but instructors would like to use OurVLE to supplement their face-to-face instructions); Internet Based (for courses that all the course material will be online and is equivalent to face-to-face instructions); and Internet Optimized (This is for courses where all the course material will be online as well as Multi-media objects are included).

ISS provides instructors with pedagogical support for Internet Based and Internet Optimized courses before and after development. However, for Internet Supported courses instructors are given pedagogical support as requested.
