Book Launch: ":“Up For Air! This Half Has Never Been Told!”
On Wednesday, November 26, 2014, 6-8:30 p.m., at the Undercroft, University of the West Indies, Mona, Dr. Imani Tafari-Ama, Lecturer, Development Consultant, Author and Talk Show Host on Fresh Start, aired 6-9 a.m. on Newstalk93FM at UWI Mona, will launch “Up For Air! This Half Has Never Been Told!” a historical award-winning novel based on the May 2010 Tivoli Gardens incursion and its aftermathh. Keynote speaker at the event will be Dr. Leahcim Semaj, Psychologist and significant presenters will include L’Acadco Dancers and event sponsors. Dr. Tafari-Ama’s presentation will include the screening of the movie trailer excerpted from the novel, since she expects to produce a feature length film based on the book.

Book Launch: Environmental Management in the Caribbean: Policy and Practice By Elizabeth Thomas-Hope
The GraceKennedy Foundation and The University of the West Indies Press will launch the book, Environmental Management in the Caribbean: Policy and Practice By Elizabeth Thomas-Hope. The launch will be on September 25, 2014 at 6:00pm at the Council Room, UWI Regional Headquarters.

Launch of the 7th IGDS Working Paper: "Gender, Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management"
The launch hosted by the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) will also include a forum under the theme ‘Gender, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management: The Youths' Perspective’. Contributors will discuss their articles contributed to the Working Paper. The publication which was sponsored by the Freidrich Ebert Stiftung, Jamaica & the Eastern Caribbean, represents the work of former BSc students who were registered in the IGDS’s course: Gender, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management (GEND3032), in the 2011/12 academic year.

The book: Commonwealth Caribbean Employment and Labour Law is authored by Natalie Corthésy former Legal Officer in the Ministry of Labour, who is presently a Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies, Mona, and Carla Anne Harris Roper, former Director, Legal Services Division, Ministry of Labour and Social Security who is presently Acting Deputy Director of Legal Reform.
