The book is titled Love and Power: Caribbean Discourses on Gender , and is edited by Eudine Barriteau, Professor of Gender and Public Policy and Deputy Principal, UWI , Cave Hill Campus.

Vincentian Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves to headline Prof. Hilary Beckles' Book Launch: Britain's Black Debt
The University of the West Indies Press, in collaboration with the National Commission on Reparations, the Ministry of Youth and Culture and the Institute for Gender and Development Studies invites you to the launch of Britain's Black Debt: Reparations for Caribbean Slavery and Native Genoicide authored by UWI Cavehill Principal, Professor Hilary Beckles. The official programme will include an address by Dr the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, and presentations by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Culture bringing greetings on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Culture, as well as remarks from Lord Anthony Gifford, QC.

Launch of books on slavery in the Caribbean
The University of the West Indies Press and Lexington Books will launch two recent books on slavery in the Caribbean. They are: Aboliton and Plantation Management in Jamaica (1807 - 1838) and Agency of the Enslaved - Jamaica and the culture of freedom in the Atlantic world.
Guest speakers are Patrick Bryan, Professor Emritus, UWI; Douglas Hall, Professor of History, UWI; Verene Shepherd, Professor of Social History and UWI Director, Institute for Gender and Development Studies.
