The UWI, Mona Health Centre through the Counselling Service Unit presents a Study Skills Workshop entitled, “What's Your Learning Style?”on Thursday, September 15 at 2 pm.
 
The Workshop aims to highlight that although we share some learning patterns with others, each of us has our own style of learning and processing information.  Knowing how we learn helps us to utilize that information to enhance our learning potential and therefore get more out of the learning experience.

The University of the West Indies, Mona will host its annual Matriculation and Welcome Ceremony for all first year students on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the tent, adjacent the Undercroft, UWI, Mona.
 
A Matriculation Ceremony is the occasion on which new students are formally recognized as members of a university. Their acceptance into the academic community is marked by the signing of the Matriculation Register. Students are invited to sign the Matriculation Register at 2:15 p.m. at the Undercroft. New students will be officially met and welcomed by senior management of the University including the Campus Principal, Faculty Deans and the Director of Student Services and Development.

The Office of Student Services and Development at UWI, Mona has organized a second Parents and Family Orientation as part of the Orientation activities for first year students. The Parents and Family Orientation takes place on Wednesday, August 24 at 9:00 a.m. in the Tent, adjacent the Undercroft. 
 
This session will allow for parents, spouses and other family members to meet and engage members of the University community such as the Deans, Student Services and Development Managers and student leaders. There will also be campus tours and sessions designed to assist parents, spouses and other family members to adjust to the changes associated with this new phase. Additionally information on financial aid and options will be provided.

The Department of Library and Information Studies at UWI, Mona has organized its annual Orientation Session for all new and returning, undergraduates and postgraduates students. The Orientation takes place on Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
