The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has appointed Professor Stafford A. Griffith as Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of its Five Islands Campus located in Antigua and Barbuda with effect from August 15, 2019 until July 31, 2020.

The University of the West Indies, Mona has received financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), toward the cost of the Investment Plan for the Caribbean Regional Track of the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

MGI Strengthens Research Collaboration with Universities in Japan

In an effort to strengthen research collaboration with universities in East Asia, the Mona Geoinformatics Institute (MGI) paid courtesy calls on various academic departments across Japan in April, 2019 to discuss collaboration with MGI’s coastal studies unit – MGIBlue. The discussions were focused on combining the skills, expertise and research available among the institutions to apply cutting edge science and technology in building solutions for coastal problems.
