Short-term Administration of Gonadotropin-releasing Hormone Agonist (Buserelin) Induces Apoptosis in Rat Ovarian Developmental Follicles

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2016.170
Pages:
319-25
Synopsis:
The short-term administration of high dose buserelin decreases the number of follicles in mature rat ovaries and has an inhibitory effect on follicular development. Also, the buserelin increases apoptosis in the granulosa cells and serum estradiol (E2) level, but the serum progesterone levels decrease.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the effects of buserelin on the development of follicles, apoptosis index and steroid hormones level.

Ovarıan Granulosa Cell Tumors: Evaluatıon of Clınıcal, Outcome and Reccurence Factors

DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.354
Synopsis:
The aim of the study was to determine the predictors for poor prognosis and to find out the effect of treatment strategies on survival functions in 37 cases of granulosa cell tumor diagnosis. Tumor differentiation is found to be a significant confounder for the disease recurrence after adjustment for the stage.

ABSTRACT

Objective: We aimed to determine the predictors for poor prognosis and to find out the effect of treatment strategies on survival functions

Methods: Thirty seven women with granulosa cell tumor were enrolled for the study between 2000 and 2013. All data was obtained from hospital prospectively collected databese.

Adnexa masses occur in one out of two hundred pregnancies
(1). Many are benign ovarian cysts diagnosed in women
during antenatal care and managed conservatively with success.
Occasionally, ovarian accidents occur that necessitate
emergency surgeries. However, in women, unbooked during
pregnancy, presentation to hospital may occur for the first
time in the puerperium and it may pose a diagnostic challenge.
We present the case of a 33-year old multipara who
presented with acute abdomen in the puerperium. The initial
