Examination General


Registration for courses takes place during the first week of the first semester of each academic year. Registration for a part of the Stage I or Stage II examinations shall consist of registration for the appropriate course(s) for that part.

The student must attempt at the same sitting all parts of the Stage I or Stage II examinations for which he or she has been registered.

A student must attend all the written, practical, clinical and oral examinations of any Part of the Stage I or Stage II examinations for which he or she has registered, and that are applicable in his or her case.

A student who fails to attend any written, practical, clinical or oral examinations of any part of the Stage I or Stage II examinations for which he or she has registered and that is applicable in his or her case shall be recorded as having failed the examination for that part.

A student who fails any part of the Stage I or Stage II examinations on his or her first attempt shall be required to sit the Examination of that part on the next available opportunity, unless otherwise decided by the Academic Board, Mona on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners and the Faculty Board.
A student who fails any part of the Stage I or Stage II examinations on his or her third attempt shall be required by Academic Board, Mona to withdraw from the MBBS programme; save that when the student’s performance is deemed to have been affected adversely by severe, unexpected problems, Academic Board, Mona may approve ONE additional attempt on the recommendation of the Faculty Board.

A student will be awarded a pass in a part of the Stage I or Stage II examinations, if he or she satisfies the examiners at the same sitting in the written, practical, clinical and oral examinations specified for that Part.

A student may be awarded a pass at honours or distinction level in a part of the Stage I or Stage II examinations, depending on the standard that he or she has reached in that part, and provided that it is his or her first attempt at that part.

Unsatisfactory Performance

Where the Head of a Department is dissatisfied with the work of a student he or she
Will report the matter through the Dean to the Faculty Board which may recommend to Academic Board, Mona that the student either repeat the course or part of the course, or be required to withdraw from the MBBS degree programme.
