The requirement for entry to Stage II is the completion of Stage
I by following the prescribed course of study and passing the examinations
unless exemptions apply.
Stage II spans at least 36 months and includes the study of: Anaesthetics;
Child Health; Community Health; Adult Medicine (including Dermatology,
Therapeutics and Venereology); Microbiology; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;
Pathology; Psychiatry; Radiology and Surgery (including Opthalmology,
Orthopaedics and Otorhinolaryngology).
A student who has not completed a clerkship satisfactorily will
be required to repeat it before proceeding further. This repetition
may necessitate delay in completion of the entire MBBS degree programme.
Stage II Examinations
The Stage II examinations consist of four parts: Part I (Pathology
and Microbiology); Part II (Medicine); Part III (Obstetrics and
Gynaecology); and Part IV (Surgery).
The Stage II parts II, III and IV examinations are taken at the
end of the third clinical year and consist of Medicine (including
Adult Medicine and Child Health, Community Health, Dermatology,
Psychiatry, Radiology, Therapeutics and Venereology); Obstetrics
and Gynaecology (including Radiology) and Surgery (including
Anaesthetics, General Surgery, Radiology and Surgical Subspecialties).
The examination in Obstetrics and Gynaecology shall consist of a
written paper, a clinical examination in either Obstetrics or Gynaecology
and an oral examination.
In Parts II, III and IV examinations, emphasis will be placed on
the clinical and oral examinations and, in particular, the student
must satisfy the examiners in the clinical examinations. A student
shall be credited with the Part(s) in which he or she satisfies
the examiners.
A student becomes eligible for the award of MBBS (Honours) by passing
at least four Parts at Honours or Distinction level, at least one
of which must be at Honours or Distinction level in Stage I Examinations,
and at least two of which must be at Honours or Distinction level
in Stage II examinations.
A student becomes eligible for the award of MBBS (Honours with
Distinction) by passing at least four parts at Distinction level,
at least one of which must be at Distinction level in Stage I examinations,
and at least two of which must be at Distinction level in Stage
II examinations.
A candidate will not be awarded an Honours or Distinction degree
unless he or she passes all of the Stage I and Stage II examinations
at the first attempt, in addition to meeting the requirements of
these Regulations.

Final Year Clerkship Rotation
Senior Obstetrics & Gynaecology - 10 weeks
