40th Annual Conference & 15th International Forum on Research in School Librarianship
THEME: School Libraries: Empowering the 21st Century LearnerThe Library and Information Association of Jamaica in collaboration with the International Association of School Librararianship will be hosting the 40th Annual Conference incorporating the 15th Forum on Research in School Librarianship at the University of the West Indies, Mona.On August 7, 2011, pre-conference workshops will be conducted on:
- Applying the eight (8) Principles of Efective Literacy Teaching to support the School's Culture for Reading by Ray Doiron, PhD
- From Collaborations to Learning Teams: Making Learning Visible through the School Library by Ross J. Todd, PhD
- Fun and Engaging Web 2.0 tools to build Participatory Culture Skills by Jennfifer Branch, PhD
The conference will focus on the role school libraries and librarians play in working together with other stakeholders to assist students' development of "skills necessary for independent and lifelong learning".
