<p>Errol L. Miller has been Professor of Teacher Education in the Institute of Education, UWI, Mona since January 1981. He is a former Principal of Mico Teachers’ College, Past President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and, from1984-89, Independent Senator in the Jamaican Parliament. He is the author of several books on gender including: Marginalisation of the Black Male, Men at Risk, and The Prophet and the Virgin: The Masculine and Feminine Roots of Teaching. He has also written numerous articles and book chapters on the issues of gender, education and the family. Professor Miller is Chairman and member of several Boards related to public service in Jamaica and the Caribbean including being the current Chairman of the Electoral Advisory Committee in Jamaica. He has been the recipient of a number of awards and honours for public service and contribution to education in the Caribbean including two Fulbright Fellows for Senior Academics to Universities in the United States, Jamaican national honour, Commander of the Order of Distinction, and the UWI’s, Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.</p>
