Theme: Creating research paradigms for social transformationOn November 1, 2011, The Mico University College will be holding its 175 anniversary Research Day. It seeks to provide a forum for academic researchers, educators, educational administrators and related practitioners to share their research and experience.The Mico Research Day 2011's objectives include:
- to inform student teachers, lecturers, institutions and government agencies about the critical role of research in knowledge creation, its management and use as transforming agents, through education and academic dialogue.
- to stimulate discussions to effect social transformation through research conducted, documented and published.
- to ensure further sustainable development of our populations in a rapidly evolving information age through evidenced based foundations
Areas of focus include:
- Literacy: A solution to and cause of crime and violence in Jamaica
- Research myths, phobias and opportunities
- Research for social transformations
The call for papers ends September 30, 2011. Abstracts (Title of presentation, statement of the problem, theoretical framework, references) should not exceed 150 words and be submitted to researchday@themico.edu.jm [1] or themicoresearchday@gmail.com [2].
