The SHP has also established links with the Oral History Project (ORP) in the Department of History and Philosophy, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. The objective is to advance the SHP’s oral history programme. The ORP is currently engaged in recording the memories of returnee residents to Barbados, who had previously migrated to the United Kingdom between 1951 and 1971. A similar project has been started by the SHP, and, the intention is to host a joint symposium with the ORP in the near future, where the findings of both projects will be presented. The SHP was represented by this body at the 13th International Oral History Conference in Rome, Italy in June 2004, where a report on the SHP’s Oral History programme to date was presented.
