The two documents in this volume were social surveys of
several rual areas and West Kingston, carried out by
H.P. Jacobs and E.P. Carter of the Jamaica Welfare Ltd.
The surveys revealed the miserable social living conditions
of the poorer strata of the Jamaican Society in the
troubled year 1938.
