As part of its Annual Career month the Office of Placement and Career Services at UWI, Mona has organized its 22nd Annual Career Expo and Job Fair under the theme, “Career Development: A Multidimensional approach.”   The Expo commences with an Opening Ceremony on February 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the Undercroft, UWI, Mona. Dr  Wayne Henry, Vice President of Government Affairs, Bank of Nova Scotia, Jamaica and former lecturer, UWI will be the guest speaker on this occasion.The Expo provides an opportunity for UWI, secondary, school and tertiary school students to gain valuable career information.

The UWI, Mona-Western Jamaica Campus Open House on Wednesday, November 28 is designed for 5th form students, their parents and teachers. There will be a display of the range of programme offerings at the UWI, Mona-Western Jamaica Campus and counsellors on hand to give advice. Additionally Mathematics and Science Clinics will be held for students.

June 19th has been designated as World Sickle Cell Day by the United Nations. In keeping with this the Sickle Cell Unit at The UWI will host an Open Day for the university community to provide information on the disease. The objectives of the declaration are:
* To recognize sickle cell disease as a major health issue in many countries such as Jamaica.
* Increase awareness of the world community with regards sickle cell disease.
* Eliminate stigma, harmful and wrong prejudices associated with sickle cell disease.
* Urge member countries where sickle cell disease is a public health problem to establish health programs at the national level and operate specialized centers for sickle cell disease and facilitate access to treatment.

The University Archives joins in commemorating International Archives Day on Thursday, June, 9, 2011 by hosting an Open day and Exhibition.  The event takes place at 26 West Road (behind the Mona School of Business) starting at 9 am under the theme, "Art and Archives". International Archives Day is celebrated worldwide to bring to the fore the work of archival institutions and to increase awareness of the value of archival records. The day also marks the first anniversary of the fire which resulted in the relocation of the University Archives to its present location on a temporary basis. The Beijing Language and Culture University Arts Troupe  Exhibition opens on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 10 am at the Main Library, UWI, Mona. The Exhibition is free. The Arts Troupe will also be a part of several performances while in Jamaica between March 13- 17.
