Pass the word to a student contemplating a tertiary education: The 'Choice of a Lifetime' series continues in the New Year with indepth focus on financing a UWI education using grants, bursaries, loans, meal subsidies and more. Joy Dickenson of the Office of Student Financing outlines the options and discloses the value of UWI's support over the 2013 period.
 
Plus, news on the Natural Products Institute's (NPI) Symposium as the Institute explores ways of supporting health, welbeing and development through exploration of natural resources.

Senior Assistant Registrar in charge of the Office of Student Recruitment, Marsha Morgan Allen kicks off our weekly series - 'Choice of a Lifetime'. Future Students are led through the application process, the programmes, the facilities and the benefits of a UWI Mona education.
 
Plus, we have the UWI Mona's official statement on the passing of the legendary Nelson Mandela and a short clip from his speech to the University in 1991 when he was awarded the honourary Doctor of Laws.

UWI Mona Researchers make discoveries about the beloved Jamaican favourite - the Avocado Pear - and its link to lower rates of prostate cancer. Plus, a startling finding about Omega Threes: Proof that they may increase the risk of Prostate Cancer in men. Dr Maria Jackson, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Community Health and Psychiatry at The UWI, Mona and Principal Investigator of the study explains.
