Public Services

Mrs. Pauline Nicholas Tele. (876) 970-6577

The Public Services Unit consists of services such as circulation, reserve, periodicals, reference and interlibrary loan.  Its main function is to enhance the goal of the University by providing the Library's patrons with timely access to information in all formats.

Circulation is responsible for providing patrons access to the Library’s material and controlling the usage.  The staff checks material in and out, maintains and monitors the patron records, collects overdue fines, and maintains the stacks.

  • Reserve Book Collection

The reserve collection is comprised of books and articles placed in the Library by faculty members to be accessed and used by students in their classes.

Materials of all formats, not owned by the Library may be borrowed through interlibrary loan. The service is available to UWI graduate and undergraduate students, staff and faculty.

Through traditional and innovative reference services patrons’ research and reference queries are satisfied.  Services are provided at the reference desk and online.  Librarians and trained assistants will address all types of queries and provide instruction in the use of the library and other resources appropriate to their specific research needs. Individualized research consultations are also available to all users by appointment.
