Vanus James

Vanus JamesDr. Vanus James is currently a Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. He is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, where he obtained his B.A in Economics. He earned his Masters in Economics and his Ph.D degrees at the New School for Social Research in New York. His post-doctoral studies were pursued at the University of Michigan, USA, Auburn University, Auburn, Montgomery, Alabama and Hofstra University, New York.

He was an Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College, and Tuskegee University in Alabama. He tutored at Hofstra University in New York, and also at the University of the West Indies, St. Agustine Campus, in his native Trinidad.

Dr. James has worked extensively on numerous projects as a consultant and a researcher locally, regionally and internationally. Locally and most recently, he conducted a study for the World Bank and the Government of Jamaica on “Impact of Cost Sharing on Education in Jamaica.”

He has written numerous papers, both published and unpublished on issues dealing with Economics and has recently produced a refereed paper on “Import Productivity Growth, Capital Deepening and Caribbean Development: Some theoretical Insights (Forthcoming, “Social and Economics Studies”, December 2004)
