All scores are given on a nine band scale from non-user to expert user with "a fully operational command of the language". Different institutions have their own entrance requirements and may require minimum scores in particular modules. In general, universities request an Overall Band Score of 6.0 or 6.5 for entrance to academic courses. You are advised to check the score required with the particular institution to which you are applying. As British Council test centre, the Department of Language, Linguistics & Philosophy (DLLP) offers you access to your IELTS Results online on the 13th day after the test date.
The online result is provisional and should not be used as an official confirmation of your achievement. British Council/ DLLP will not accept any responsibility in the event that your results fail to display, whether due to a technical fault or administrative procedure. You will also receive an email notification of their availability for collection at the IELTS Examination Centre, Department, of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy on the same day. These results are valid for two years.
You may request additional Test Report Forms to be sent to the address of your choice.
Candidates can request a remark (Enquiry on Results (EOR)) within six weeks of issue of the Test Report Form. The candidate can choose which tests are re-marked. The EOR fee is £63.00 or JA$9,000; this may be refunded only if the score on any test is increased. An EOR can take up to 8 weeks to complete. All EORs will attract a non-refundable courier fee of £26.00 (applicants outside of Jamaica) or JA$ 4,000.00 (applicants in Jamaica). Click here for payment details
