Applicants for entry into the PhD programme should normally hold the MPhil degree. Applicants who do not have the MPhil may be accepted initially as MPhil candidates. Depending on the quality of their performance, they may apply to have their registration upgraded to PhD, thereby bypassing the MPhil.
