Homecoming 2017 Caribbean Day Festival of Food and Culture

Caribbean Day Festival of Food and Culture features cuisine from our diverse Caribbean culture, students, staff and alumni are treated to a lunch hour entertainment which includes beats and rhythms of the Caribbean. This year we will be hosting a best dish competition between Caribbean countries and as well as the inclusion of a Cultural Showcase featuring items from different Caribbean Islands. The Festival of Food and Culture starts at 12:00 pm on Friday, at the Assembly Hall Lawns.

Homecoming 2017 Flag Raising Ceremony

Flag Raising ceremony, which begins at 4.30 p.m. The ceremony will include a Proud Pelican Showcase of University Pride, during which high achievers and the 2017 Honouree will be recognized as they participate in a ‘walk of pride’.

The Proud Pelican Showcase refers to that section of the Flag Raising Ceremony where students are judged in categories of Hall, Clubs, Country Associations based on vibes and presentation. Included in the Proud Pelican Showcase is the highlighting of achievements of some specially invited guests in order that they may be highlighted and they may enjoy that proud moment during their ‘walk of pride’

Homecoming Grand Parade

This year's Homecoming activities are being staged with the theme Re-Igniting the Pelican Flame. The celebrations have been reimagined and are now being executed with the singular aim of creating and fostering a sense of pride about the Mona Campus from members of the UWI Community. The idea being, to identify and showcase achievements from individuals or groups that have given us reasons to be proudly affiliated with The UWI, Mona Campus, in a pride filled atmosphere.
