Speech Writing Workshop
The Deparment of Literatures in English will host a Speech Writing Workshop on three consecutive Saturdays in June from 10:00 am to 1:00pm. The workshop will be held on the 7th, 14th and 21st of June 2014.
The presenter will be Professor Emeritus Edward Baugh, former UWI Public Orator.

Theme: The pathway to quality healthcare
The Conference objectives are to:
- Sensitize participants about key issues that influence the provision of quality healthcare
- Empower participants to assume leadership for nursing and midwifery research
- Strengthen the capacity of Nurses and Midwives to translate research findings into policy and practice for enhanced patient care
- Provide a forum for networking to promote intra and inter professional collaboration in nursing and midwifery research development

Shakespeare Revision Workshop - A Midsummer Night's Dream

On the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare, the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts at the University of the West Indies, Mona, will host two Shakespeare 450 Workshops on April 23 and 24, both led by UWI Senior Lecturer and Staff Tutor in Drama, Dr Brian Heap. The workshop for CSEC students on April 23 will take a playing approach to the text, involving students in the dramatic interpretation of the text, paying close attention to language, plot, character, relationships and imagery.
The Logistics Hub: Implications for western Jamaica
This event is staged by the University of the West Indies Mona, Western Jamaica Campus, the Caribbean Maritime Institute and the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Special Guest Speaker is Professor Grodon Shirley, Chairman of the Port Authority of Jamaica.

24th Nursing and Midwifery Research Conference & 25th Mary J. Seivwright Day
The UWI School of Nursing will host the 24th Nursing and Midwifery Research Conference and 25th Mary J. Seivwright Day entitled “Nursing and Midwifery Research: The pathway to quality healthcare”
Day 1 will focus on the Poster presentations related to the title of the conference and the keynote speaker will make a presentation as well.
Day 2 will include the Mary J Seivwright distinguished lecture and an induction ceremony for selected nurses and midwives in the Sigma Theta Tau nursing society.
Code Red: Critical Care Issues in Paediatrics
You are invited to attend the Department of Child and Adolescent Health, UWI, Mona, 6th Biennial Child Health Conference - Code Red: Critical Care Issues in Paediatrics on April 5 and 6, 2014 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences Teaching and Research Complex, UWI, Mona. The guest speaker is Dr. Michael Gayle,Chief, Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, University of Florida, College of Medicine, Jacksonville and UWI alumnus. Saturday, April 5, 2014 12-3pm - workshop on neonatal resuscitation and basic and advanced life support. Sunday, April 6, 2014, 8:30 am to 4 pm - main conference with topics including neonatal surgical emergencies, pain and sedation in ICU, ARDS, septic shock, and nursing care of the ICU patient.
