UWI Mona Regional Disability Studies Conference
The conference will examine various instruments such as the Kingston Accord, the CRPD, the Declaration of Pétion Ville and other related policy documents/treaties, to develop a Charter that will guide/assist regional governments and private sector organizations in fast-tracking the disability agenda.

HIV/AIDS Regional Training of Trainers Workshop
The Regional Coordinating Unit of the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Regional Training network (UWI-CHART)will host a regional Training of Trainers Workshop for persons who will provide training to Health Care Workers Providing Psychosocial Support for People Living with HIV (PLHIV) at the Coco Palm Resort in St. Lucia. A total of twenty-nine participants from 11 countries within CARICOM will be equipped to deliver the training program which was developed by UWI-CHART and piloted in Antigua last year.

The 2014 UWI Mona Research Days will be presented under the main theme “Fostering Growth and Development in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) through Research”. The annual forum will showcase the University’s research achievements and provide an important opportunity for stakeholders to learn about, evaluate, and potentially apply the University’s current research work.

The Department of History and Archaeology and the Department of Government, the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus will host a joint panel discussion on the life, work and legacy of Nelson Mandela, Leader of the Anti-Apartheid Movement, Liberator, and former President of the Republic of South Africa.

This one and half-day workshop is specifically geared to help faculty develop web-ready content, using existing tools. Participants will engage in creating blogs, developing podcasts, making highly interactive, learner-centred PowerPoint presentations:

Teaching Skills Workshop 2014
This introduction to teaching at The UWI, is geared towards helping participants to actively engage students, write more effective learning outcomes for their classes, and explore novel ideas on assessment. A new feature for this year’s workshop is a discussion on education for sustainable development.
