The UWI, in partnership with Guardian Life Limited, Guardian Group, will be hosting the 5th UWI/Guardian Life Premium Teaching Lecture on October 10, 2013. This year’s speaker will be Dr. Dave Yearwood, Professor and Chair of the Technology Department of the University of North Dakota.

UWI Student Leaders' Workshop
The UWI Student Leaders workshop for student leaders aims to develop strong leaders and critical thinkers who will make meaningful contributions to national and regional development.
This year, for the first time, students from other tertiary level institutions are invited. Speakers include Mrs. Sandra Galsgow, Leachim Semaj, Tracy Robinson, Dr. Karen Carpenter, among others.

'I Believe' Initiative's Animation Training for youth
The Governor-General's I Believe Initiative (IBI) will embark on the final leg of animation training for youth at the county level in Jamaica. The Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC), at the University of the West Indies Mona, Western Jamaica Campus (UWI-WJC), will host the IBI’s County of Cornwall workshop from July 22 - 26. The five-day training course is fruit of IBI’s partnership with the University of the West Indies, Canada’s Toon Boom Animation and Jamaica’s GSW Animation. Each workshop participant will receive basic training in manipulating the Toon Boom Animation Harmony software under the guidance of Facilitator and Animator Robert Reid.

Symposium to commemorate the 115th earthday of the founding father of the Rastafari movement
Monty Howell, the oldest son of Leonard Howell, (widely regarded as the founder and the father of the Rastafari Movement in Jamaica) will be the special guest at the Leonard Howell (115TH EARTHDAY) Celebrations starting with a Symposium at the UWI Mona Campus, on Friday, June 14, at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre from 6pm to 9pm.
