What good wellness habits have you incorporated in your lifestyle? Take a moment to think about them and to congratulate yourself for being consistent in carrying them out. Recommit to doing them regularly.

“Top A Di Top” Workshops A Feature of the UWI Games

UWI Games and CNIS Ltd. presented the first in a series of “Top A Di Top” Workshops on Wednesday, April 18 at 2 pm at the UWI Mona Main Playing Field. The first workshop featured Jamaican Olympians Keith Gardner, Grace Jackson, Aileen Bailey, and top athlete Germaine Gonzales.

Final Reggae/Rastafari Discussion Series

The Reggae Studies Unit presents the final discussion in the Reggae/Rastafari Series for the semester on Friday, April 20 at 5:00 p.m. in the New Education Lecture Theatre (NELT). Cecil Gutzmore, Lecturer in Caribbean Studies will speak on "The Connection: Garvey and Haile Selassie Revisited."

"Strategic Directions for the Jamaica Library Service"

The Department of Library and Information Studies in collaboration with the Jamaica Library Service will present a talk entitled "Strategic Directions for the Jamaica Library Service" on Wednesday, April 18 at 2:30 pm in the Multifunctional Room of the Main Library, UWI. The presenter will be Patricia Roberts, Director General, the Jamaica Library Service.

The University community and the public are invited to attend.

2007 Principles and Practices of Social Work Course Graduation

The Graduation exercise of the 44th Regional Four Month Course in the Principles and Practices of Social Work takes place at the Social Welfare Training Centre on Thursday, April 26 at 5:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Claudette Richardson-Pious, Social Worker, Executive Director, Children First, St. Catherine.

The Social Welfare Training Centre (SWTC) of the School of Continuing Studies, the University of the West Indies organizes the Regional Four Month Course annually.

36th Annual Graduate Recruitment Programme

The Office of Placement and Career Services, Office of Student Services and Development 36th Annual Graduate Recruitment Programme for final year UWI students continues until Friday, April 20. The Annual Graduate Recruitment Programme is organized to provide an opportunity for final year students from the faculties of Social Sciences, Pure and Applied Science and Humanities and Education to interview for openings at companies and organizations.

Award Winning Southern African Author Delivers Public Lecture at UWI, Mona

Elinor Sisulu, Zimbabwean-born/South African citizen, and award winning author will deliver a public lecture entitled Mrs. Sisulu’s Husband: Gender Relations in an African Marriage on Monday, April 23 at 5.30 pm in the Multifunctional Room of the Main Library, UWI, Mona.

Bachelor of Education Part-time Online Programme

Applications are invited for admission to the Bachelor of Education Programme Part-time Online Programme for Secondary School Teachers being offered by the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona for the upcoming academic year 2007/2008. The deadline for submission of application is Friday, April 20.

The Programme offers majors in the following: Language Education (English), History Education, Language Education (Spanish), Science Education (Chemistry), Mathematics Education and Computer Science/Information Technology Education.

Call For Sessions -7th International Crossroads in Cultural Studies Conference

Proposals are invited for sessions at the 7th International Crossroads in Cultural Studies Conference, scheduled for July 3 to 7, 2008 at the University of the West Indies, Mona. The deadline for submission of session proposals is Saturday, June 30. For further information on the guidelines for submission, individuals should visit the Session Organizer’s Manual at www.crossroads2008.org. Proposals should also be submitted via the website.

Events Planning and Management Seminar

The Reggae Studies Unit in collaboration with the Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, UWI, Mona will again be offering a seminar in Event Planning and Management on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 between from 9:00 am and 3:30 pm daily at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre. The presenter for the seminar will be events planning and entertainment specialist, Samuel McCook
