Records Management Seminar
The University Archives and Records Management Programme, as part of the celebration for Records and Information Month, is pleased to announce a seminar on Our Records Management Standard: Raising the Bar scheduled for Thursday, April 27 from 8:45 a.m.–1:00 p.m. in the Multifunctional Room, Main Library. The topics will be Jamaican Records Management Standard JS ISO 15489 and the UWI Outreach and Advisory Services for Users, The Role of Departmental Liaison officers and Tour of records Facilities. Target Group: Persons with responsibility for departmental records.
Special Certificate in Records Management Programme
Special Certificate in Records Management Programme: Session 1 will be held at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, from June 5 – July 14 (six weeks). Offered by the School of Continuing Studies, it is the first of a comprehensive two year programme consisting of four courses (two each year). The second session will be offered in Summer 2007. The Third Caribbean Conference on Dispute Resolution
The Mona School of Business and the Dispute Resolution Foundation will be hosting the 3rd Caribbean Conference on Dispute Resolution from May 24-27 at the Half Moon Hotel, Montego Bay, Jamaica. The theme for this year’s conference is "Matching the Problem to the Process: Dispute Resolution Options for the Caribbean". 2nd Annual Career Day
The Jamaica Medical Students’ Association (JAMSA) will be having its 2nd Annual Career Day on Wednesday April 19, and Thursday April 20 at the Main Medical Lecture and Sunken Garden located on the Hospital Grounds of the University. The Career Day is aimed at informing students, interns and residents on specialist areas of study and occupation. The event is being organized by the Standing Committee on Medical Education a sub-committee of JAMSA.
5th Annual Careers in Ageing Week
The Mona Ageing and Wellness Centre/PAHO/WHO collaborating Centre for Ageing and Health, Department of Community Health and Psychiatry, invites you to a celebration of its 5th annual “careers in Ageing Week” from April 18 – 21. The opening is scheduled for Thursday April 20 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the Department of Community Health and Psychiatry.
An exhibition will be mounted along with a multi-media display showcasing the opportunities available for persons seeking a career change or embarking on a profession in a new and exciting field.
Applications for 2007 Fulbright/LASPAU Scholarship
The US Embassy Office of Public Affairs would like to bring to your attention the 2007 Fulbright/LASPAU (Latin American Scholarship Program of American Universities) Faculty Development Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Scholarships are available for full-time lecturers at tertiary level institutions in Jamaica to undertake master's- or doctoral-level study at U.S. universities beginning in August/September, 2007.

Fifth International Drama in Education Research Institute
Submissions of proposals for academic papers and workshops under the theme - "Returning the Gaze, Reclaiming the Voice - Post-colonialism and its implications for Drama and Education" are invited for presentation at the Fifth International Drama in Education Research Institute (IDIERI). The Institute will be hosted by the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts (P.S.C.C.A.), U.W.I., from July 13 - July 18. Graduate Research Series
The Jamaican Language Unit in the Department of Language Linguistics and Philosophy will host the Penultimate Workshop in the Graduate Research Series: Making Sense of the Data on Monday April 24, from 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Faculty of Humanities and Education. The cost is $5000 for all graduate researchers in the middle of their research.

Applications are now being invited for Research and Publications and Graduate Awards. Applications forms are available on website at www.mona.uwi.edu/postgrad (‘documents’ tool bar). Applicants should complete application and submit 1 copy electronically to postgrag@uwimona.edu.jm by April 25 and submit 2 hard copies signed by Head of Department and Supervisor (student’s form) no later than April 25. Please note that applications received after the closing date will not be considered. Electronic copy as well as hard copies of the applications must be submitted for processing.
