Certificate in Records Management Course

Electrical Outage: Sunday June 27, 2004

The Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd. wishes to inform the University of the West Indies Campus community that there will be a power outage on Sunday June 27, 2004 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This load shedding is necessary in order to make improvements to the system and to carry out additional maintenance work. The Jamaica Public Service regrets any inconvenience caused and looks forward to the continued support and cooperation from its users.

Hermione McKenzie

The Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work, UWI Mona will host a Conference on Gender, Race, Social Policy and Social Administration in the Caribbean in honour of the contribution and work of Mrs. Hermione McKenzie. The conference will be held on Friday, June 25 at 8:00 a.m. in the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Social Science, Mona Campus. Jamaica Committee offers Scholarship

A new scholarship in Primary Education valued at some Two Hundred and Forty Thousand Jamaican dollars (J$240,000) over two years, will be offered at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, beginning in the 2004-2005 academic year.

NCB Jamaican Education Initiative Scholarship

Information on the NCB and NCB Jamaican Education Initiative Scholarship is now available on the website: www.mona.uwi.edu/osf. The applications forms are also available on the site and should be submitted to the Office of Student Financing. The deadline for submission is July 15, 2004.

Research Development Awards in Tropical Medicine

The Wellcome Trust wishes to support Research in Tropical Medicine by providing opportunities for training and for undertaking research projects in the tropical and/or developing countries of the world. Studies of all aspects of health and disease in developing regions are encouraged.

Ruby Yorke

The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus has learned with regret of the passing of Ruby Yorke, former Director of the Regional Preschool Child Development Centre (now Caribbean Child Development Centre CCDC). Ruby Yorke was well known and respected throughout the Caribbean for the passion she demonstrated toward the “early childhood cause.” She was outspoken about early childhood issues in the Caribbean, especially those that gave her cause for concern. Ms. Yorke devoted many years of her life to the development of the early childhood system in her native St.

The University Bookshop Annual Stock-Taking Exercise

The University Bookshop will be closed for its Annual Stock-Taking exercise starting Tuesday, 29th June 2004 at 1:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday, 5th July 2004.
