Bar-b-que in the Park

The University Close and College Common Citizen’s Association presents its first annual Bar-b-que in the Park on Saturday, December 21 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.   The menu includes jerk chicken and pork, vegetarian and other interesting dishes. There will also be entertainment and activities for the children including a visit by Santa Claus.  Tickets are $500 for adults and $200 for children. Residents are invited to come out and meet a neighbour.

Christmas Holidays

Members of the UWI Mona Campus community and the public are ask to note that in addition to the public holidays, the Campus will be closed on December 24 and 31 at 12:30 p.m.

Dorian Powell 4th Annual Prize Giving Function

The Centre for Gender and Development Studies, Mona Unit will host its Fourth Annual Prize-Giving Function on Monday, December 16, at 5:00 p.m. in the Multi-Functional Room, Main Library, UWI.

IMUA Conference in January

Plans are now in high gear for the 14th staging of the International Meeting of University Administrators (IMUA) to be hosted January 5 - 9, 2003 jointly by the University of the West Indies, Mona and the University of Technology, Jamaica. Over 200 delegates representing tertiary level institutions are expected to attend the event.  The meeting will not only be of importance to University Administrators but will also offer a unique opportunity to showcase the best of what Jamaica has to offer.

Opening of a New Magnetic Resonance Imaging Unit

The University Hospital of the West Indies opened a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging Unit (MRI) on Tuesday, December 10.  The Governor General of Jamaica, the Most Hon.

Second Call for Papers for ACHEA 2003 Conference

Persons planning to present papers at the Association of Caribbean Higher Education Administrators (ACHEA) Conference in Barbados in July 2003 are asked to note that the deadline for the submission of abstracts is December 30, 2002. To facilitate planning, persons who will be attending the conference are encouraged to submit a preliminary registration form available online via the conference web site http://www.uwichill.edu.bb/achea .  The final registration form to be submitted along with payment is also available for download at the conference web site.

The University of the West Indies (Mona Campus) (Security) Act 2002

Effective January 1, 2003, access to the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus through the Queens Way Gate on the Hermitage Road will be restricted only to vehicles with UWI Parking Stickers. Persons with UWI Parking Stickers may enter the Campus through any gate.

UWI Graduation Photographs – 2002

The Public Relations Office wishes to inform graduates who took photographs on graduation night, that they may be collected between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays from the Public Relations Office, Gibraltar Hall Road (West).

UWI Souvenirs

The Public Relations Office, Mona Campus has on sale UWI Souvenir postcards, posters and plates.  The poster has a view of the main administrative complex while the postcards have views of The Historical Aqueduct and Yellow Poui Tree; The Main Administrative Complex; The Main Entrance, Queens Way; the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts and the Aston Preston Hall of Residence. The plates are cream and gold; and black and gold with a view of the UWI Mona Campus in the middle.
