Drupal
Keeping departments engaged in maintaining current web content has been one of the web team's greatest challenge in years gone by. Looking for a solution we decided to choose a Content Management System (CMS) and run with it. This CMS should be flexible and most important of all, easy for the users to adapt, accessible and very user friendly. Drupal was selected and we decided to begin the rollout process.
Initially it did not go as planned and getting a test server up and running was no where in sight due to reported technical issues. Be that as it may, Summer 2007 the web team took a turn to make things happen. A sever was commissioned and a new Drupal engineer was in training. September of the said year the new principal, Prof. Gordon Shirley, directed the web team to deliver a first rate website for his office. The ball went a rolling, we hustled and bustled to get a design that was most appropriate. It didn't happen the way we wanted, it just wasn't coming together. We approached New Media Studios who provided a design that was cutting edge while showing off the principal. It was approved and implementation was on stream.
"Suppose we cannot meet the stipulated timeline", asked one team member? There was no answer. How strong is this technology, how mature? Questions came form all angles as we tried to deliver. "Hold the ship steady captian" echoed a counter part from Infrastructure. Aiye Aiye. Rough seas ahead, keep the ropes tight, hold her steady. Just a little longer. Waves of lateness crashing like a thunderous Bold in a M3 while Drupal takes its toll. Yeah we safe, only a scratch in the foot from the words of a raging principal.
Special Delivery, November 2007 the principal's website was the first Drupal website coming out of Mona. The proof is in the pudding, and now, a newer version of this website was launched in early May 2009.
