Cybersecurity Awarness Month - Week 2 - Double The Lock; Double The Safety

What is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your logins. Even if your password is compromised, an attacker still can’t log in without the second factor.

Think of it like needing both a key and a code to open a door.

“Your password alone isn’t enough. MFA stops attackers in their tracks.”

How does MFA Work?

When you log in, you’ll be asked for a second step:
  • A code sent to your phone
  • A notification in an authenticator app
  • Or a fingerprint/face scan
That extra step is what keeps attackers out.

NB: NEVER provide your MFA code to anyone or approve logins that you didn’t initiate.

“One extra step for you. One giant barrier for hackers.”

Where should you use MFA?

Always enable MFA on:
  • Your UWI Email/Accounts
  • Online Banking
  • Social Media & Shopping Apps
The more important the account, the more critical MFA is.

“If it matters to you, protect it with MFA.”
