Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) mourns the untimely passing of Ambassador Dr, the Hon, Richard Bernal. O.J. former Ambassador to the United States and former Board Member of Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM).
Ambassador Bernal served the UWI in various capacities including as the first Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Affairs and up to the time of his passing as Professor of Practice within the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies and Research and Research Fellow at the P.J. Patterson Centre for Africa-Caribbean Advocacy.
As a Board Member, Ambassador served the MSBM with distinction, leveraging his unique experiences in banking, academia and as a diplomat to guide the School to aspire towards global best practices and recognition.
“The consummate professional, Ambassador Bernal was both a scholar and a gentleman and made a significant contribution to the School’s development in his quiet, charming but forthright manner” stated Dr David McBean, Executive Director, MSBM .
A patriot, Ambassador Bernal was awarded the Order of Jamaica in 2001.
