Five very bright and ambitious undergraduate students were awarded the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) 10th Anniversary Scholarships in recognition of their excellent academic records and their involvement in the UWI/MSBM community.
As part of the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the merger of the former Mona School of Business and the Department of Management Studies, the School offered ten scholarships (five undergraduate and five graduate) in celebration of this significant milestone. The scholarships were announced in September 2023 at the 10th anniversary Gala and Awards function. In keeping with the theme of “excellence”, the scholarship criteria focused on students who demonstrate excellence in their chosen field of study.
After a review of a very competitive set of applicants, the following students were awarded the MSBM 10th Anniversary Undergraduate Scholarships.
- Michael Campbell- BSc Accounting
- ·Sajhee Powell-BSc Management Studies (Marketing)
- Dejohnae Lindsay- BSc Management Studies
- Sashanna Smith-BSc Management Studies
- Oncia Clahar – BSc Management
They were presented with their awards on Friday May 24th in a small ceremony at MSBM. In addressing the recipients , Dr David McBean, Executive Director, MSBM congratulated the students and encouraged them to continually strive for excellence. He spoke to them about the challenges of the world of work and the changing business landscape and implored them to keep their focus and strive to make a difference.
In responding on behalf of the students, Sashanna Smith thanked the MSBM for the generosity in providing much needed support to them to assist in completing their degree programmes and committed to making the most of the opportunity.
