Art of Digital Marketing

As the world highlights Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), Mona School of Business Management (MSBM) through the Vincent HoSang Entrepreneurship Programme (VHEP) will celebrate GEW with a virtual event dubbed “The Art of Digital Marketing.” Guest Speaker for the event, is entrepreneur, digital consultant and transformation specialist Kemal Brown.

This strategic partnership is very timely, as entrepreneurs must not only learn to embrace the digital age, but navigate the space as effectively as possible to bolster their businesses.

The VHEP is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary in support of tertiary level student entrepreneurs, through the Vincent HoSang UWI Venture Competition. The 2022 staging has attracted approximately 53 teams, all competing for the opportunity to win over one million Jamaican dollars in cash and prizes to be used to invest in their businesses to help them scale and grow. The aim of the Vincent HoSang UWI Venture Competition (UWIVC) is to be a part of a larger ecosystem of support and premier resources, for the development of tertiary level student entrepreneurs and MSBM is pleased to be able to assist nascent entrepreneurs through this programme.

As we commemorate Global Entrepreneurship Week, we also salute Vincent Hosang, the man whose name the Programme and Competition bears, himself a well-known entrepreneur, who eventually built a food manufacturing empire (Royal Caribbean Bakery, Caribbean Food Delights).

Having to interrupt his high school education to assist his family with their business, Vincent HoSang got an early introduction to building and managing a business. Mr. Hosang and his wife Jeanette acquired a fast food establishment, and later went on to expand their business to include a bakery and frozen foods. Mr. Hosang knew the challenges of being an entrepreneur, which led him to start the Vincent HoSang Family Foundation (VHFF) in April 2002 as a means of giving back to the community and educating future entrepreneurs.

That desire of Mr. Hosang extended to a partnership between the VHFF and MSBM for the establishment of the VHEP. He embodied entrepreneurship, and at a time when people understood mechanical and analogue technology. The ease now possible to connect with people worldwide is being made possible through digital technology, an era understood by Kemal Brown.

“The Art of Digital Marketing” virtual event takes place on Wednesday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. The VHEP looks forward to an insightful presentation from Mr. Brown and the many aspiring and budding entrepreneurs ready to create successful businesses, and play their part on the further strengthening and growth of Jamaica’s economy.
